Apartment Living

In a little over a month, I'll be moving into my new apartment to begin classes again. Because our apartment will be furnished, I now get a full size bed for the first time in my life! No more twin!! :) Therefore, it was time for a whole new color scheme: grey, coral, navy, and teal.

Above you can see what I've compiled for my new bedroom in the apartment. The duvet cover I have ordered from Urban Outfitters. The colored wall art I created myself using Illustrator and plan to print out and hang above my bed. The other wall art, the three large white matte frames, I will fill with black and white photos from my summer trip to Italy. These great 18in x 18in frames are from Target. I plan to get navy sheets and possibly a navy curtain for my room, and a teal and coral pillow to throw on my bed to accent the navy sheets and grey bedspread. I'm so excited! I already have teal photo frames, a teal clock, and a teal lantern from my old room and I plan to paint a few Mason jars different shades of coral... I'm sure I'll be posting photos next month!

Venezia

Venice is so gorgeous! Not as much to do as in Rome or Florence, but the most beautiful by far in my book! Here, again, are a few photos from my few days in Venezia, Italia:

Love this row of houses. A view from our boat that I fixed a little to show the color a bit better.

This is what I picture, when I think of Italy.

Some lover's locks on the Ponte dell'Accademia.

Me on the Ponte dell'Accademia.

The Tetrarch in the Piazza San Marco.

View of the Ponte di Rialto from our boat.

My first attempt at watercolor on a pen drawing of the Ponte Vecchio from a ledge off of the Ponte Santa Trinita back in Florence.

Ciao from Italy!

Well I've been in Italy for almost three weeks now and I'll be headed home on the 14th of June. I've already taken about 1,900 photos between Florence, Siena, and Rome. We head to Venice on Tuesday for a couple of nights and Pisa next Saturday! Our apartment is pretty adorable; only a block North of Santa Croce. We've been drawing and sketching quite a bit and of course shopping! I've also seen a lot of famous works of art! Here are just a few of my favorite filter-free photos from the trip thus far:

A new charm of the Duomo for my bracelet.
View of Florence from the Piazzale Michelangelo.

View of the Arno river from the Piazzale Michelangelo.

Love photographing lights and doors!

Good Design

I am pleased to announce that I now have a job, and am very happy that this is a job as a graphic designer! I have been working at MEDIAgraphix (MGX) on campus for the last month and I absolutely love it. Sadly, I won't be back until the fall, but I'll be keeping busy. At MGX, we design and print for on campus departments, organizations, and occasionally off-campus businesses.

On top of this great news, I have lots of other amazing opportunities that will keep me crazy busy this fall at school! Besides working at MGX, I will also be working as a student assistant in the Honors Program Office and as a Lead Honors Mentor. I am also the President of the Honors Outreach Network registered student organization (RSO), a member of the Organization of Women Leaders RSO, and will be continuing volunteering as a Campus Ambassador, giving campus tours to prospective students.

Getting Personal

This semester I took Logo & Identity Design where we had to create our own logo and stationery set. Here's what I came up with for mine.

Here's my logo.

Here is my business card. It's long because the end of it folds in so the front is all white and the back is black. The inside has the QR code and contact information.

This is my envelope, not folded.

This is my letterhead: one blank, one with text, and a second sheet. The teal logo appears on the back of the sheets.
